What is Latisse?

October 18th 2010 in Latisse

LATISSE (ophthalmic solution) is a prescription medication used to increase eyelashes growth, making them longer, fuller and thicker. The active ingredient of Latisse is Bimatoprost – prostoglandin derivative.

The commercial name of the medication may differ from the brand one. Generic Latisse manufactured by Ajanta Pharma is available under the commercial name Bimat. Generic Latisse comes only with one disposable applicator.

How does Latisse work?
It works by improving the growth of eyelashes by affecting hair follicles.

Where To Buy Latisse ?
Latisse is a prescription medication meaning that it can be prescribed only by a physician. You can buy it online or at your local pharmacy.

Can Latisse be a replacement of mascara?
No. LATISSE does not work in place of mascara. However, mascara can be used on your eyelashes in addition to the medication.

Because it’s a relatively new treatment, not every doctor prescribes Latisse to increase eye lashes growth. However, eye doctors, cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists are specialists who are more likely to know about the drug’s availability.

What are the Latisse side effects ?
It is possible for hair growth to occur in other areas of your skin that Latisse frequently touches. Any excess solution outside the upper eyelid margin should be blotted with a tissue or other absorbent material to reduce the chance of excessive hair growth. It is also possible to feel an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness.

Important :
Read the Patient Information that comes with Latisse before you start using it. If you are unsure about taking or not this product or experience any of the adverse effects, please contact your doctor.
